Privacy Policy
This page explains what happens to your data when you play Slow Roads on this site or read the guides. It is short, because the site does very little with your data.
We do not ask you for anything
There are no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no forms on this site. We never ask you for a name, an email address or a payment detail. The only way you give us information is if you choose to email us, and then we only have what you wrote.
Data stored in your own browser
The game saves your settings, your generation seed and your personal records using your browser's local storage. This is worth being precise about:
- It is stored on your device, by your browser.
- It is never transmitted to us and we cannot read it.
- It does not follow you to another device or browser.
- Clearing your browser's site data for this domain deletes all of it.
None of this is a cookie in the tracking sense, and none of it identifies you.
Analytics in the original game, and what we did about it
We want to be straightforward about this. The original 2022 build of Slow Roads contained analytics code that opened a connection to the developer's server and looked up the visitor's approximate location through a third-party IP geolocation service.
We have switched that off on this site using the game's own built-in disable flag, which is set before the game starts. The connection is not opened and the geolocation lookup does not happen. The developer's original analytics server is also no longer running.
Our own analytics
At the time of writing this site runs no analytics product — no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no tracking pixels, no advertising scripts.
Hosting logs
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, their infrastructure records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, user agent — for delivery, security and abuse prevention. This is handled under Vercel's privacy policy and we do not build profiles from it.
Links to other sites
This site links out to other websites, including slowroads.io. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not ours.
Children
This site is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since we collect nothing, there is nothing held about a child to request the deletion of.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to export or erase. Data the game saved sits in your browser and you can clear it yourself at any time through your browser settings. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add analytics, advertising or any other third-party script, this page will be updated before that goes live and the date at the top will change.
