Editorial Guidelines
These are the rules the Slow Roads guides on this site are written to. They exist because most of what is published about this game online is wrong in checkable ways, and we would rather be the exception.
1. Verify against the build, not against other sites
Every factual claim about the game — key bindings, vehicle count, scene names, graphics options, how seeds persist — is checked against the game bundle running on this site. Where a claim cannot be verified, it is either left out or explicitly marked as uncertain.
2. Say which build we are describing
This site runs the 2022 browser release, version 1.0.1. The official game at slowroads.io has moved on considerably. Where a guide describes something that has since changed, it says so rather than presenting this build as current.
3. No invented specifics
No load times we have not measured. No frame-rate figures we have not observed. No release dates, prices or player numbers unless they were checked at the time of writing. A number that cannot be defended does not go in.
4. Credit the creator
Slow Roads is anslo's work. Every page on this site says so and links to the official version. Guides point readers to the current game rather than implying this build is the whole story.
5. Own screenshots only
Images are captured from the build running here. No promotional art, no images lifted from other sites, and captions describe what is actually in the frame.
6. Useful before optimised
Guides are written to answer the question a reader arrived with. We do not repeat a phrase to hit a keyword target, and we do not stretch a 400-word answer into 2,000 words.
7. Corrections are published, not quietly patched
If a guide is wrong, we fix it and update the date on the page. For anything that materially changes the advice, the correction is noted in the text rather than silently edited away.
8. Be honest about limits
Phones run the game through our own on-screen controls, but older and budget devices will not hold a smooth frame rate, and some hardware will not at any setting. Where a network blocks the site, that is a policy decision we do not help circumvent. Guides say these things plainly instead of promising otherwise.
